Hildur Sveinsdóttir
The sweater is designed by Hildur Sveinsdóttir for The Icelandic Hand Knitting Association.
The Icelandic Hand Knitting Association was founded in 1977 by a group of people, mainly women, with the goal of increasing their income by knitting and selling their crafts.
The Hand Knitting Association operates two stores in Reykjavík.
Pattern
The pattern is inspired by classic Icelandic wool sweater patterns.
Woolyarn
Ær wool yarn is a great match for the sweater. The colors add character and warmth.
Difficulty level
The knitting is suitable for everyone. Take your time, the sweater will be more valuable as a result.
Needle size
We recommend using needles size 4.5-5.5 Do a knitting tension to be sure.
Knitting gauge
The knitting tension on size 4.5 needles is 18 stitches per 10 cm.

Sweater
Ær is particularly suitable for a sweater that should be both soft and warm. The yarn is very versatile and therefore Ær can be used in many knitting patterns.
hats
The combination of tog and þel uniqe fibers in the icelandic sheep creates an exceptional wool blend that is suitable for hats. The yarn is light and warm over the ears.
mittens
Icelandic wool felts well and is therefore well suited for mittens. The yarn is strong, light and warm.
Vest
The yarn is pleasantly light and warm, making it good for a light vest or collar.

Gilhagi is a family owned and run farm in north east iceland. <br>
Gilhagi is a sheep and goat farma along with beekeeping and forestry.<br>
On farm is a woolmill and a farmshop.

We welcome all kinds of groups, both for the woolmill but also for all kinds of events in Gilhagi area.

Forestry has been practiced more or less in recent decades. There are many pleasant sit downs to visit on Gilhagi and enjoy surroundings.
Outdoor activities
Forestry and nature create a pleasant setting that can be enjoyed with all kinds of outdoor activities.

You can find various hiking trails from Gilhagi. Many developed by the sheep.
